Student-taught music lessons

We offer qualified teaching as part of the students' pedagogical programme

As part of the RDAM students' education, they must complete music pedagogical internships that end with a practical exam.

If you or your child is accepted for student-taught music lessons, you will receive free lessons in either singing or an instrument approximately once a week at RDAM by one of the Academy's students for a limited period of time.

One of the Academy's teachers will attend classes to guide the student. The length of an internship programme varies. This will be informed by the student or their teacher.

You commit to attending classes and to participating in the student's pedagogical exam. The exam will take place as a regular teaching lesson – it is the student who must demonstrate their teaching skills. Anyone can apply for student-taught music lessons, regardless of age. We expect you to provide your own instruments and set aside time for practice during the period to ensure professional development. If you have problems obtaining instruments, please contact the student about this before the internship starts.
