Spatial audio seminar -  works 2021 – Artist residency at IEM Graz

My work in computer music explores audio applications of various areas within pure mathematics, especially ideas and machinery coming from algebra, algebraic geometry and group theory. During this evening I will play spatial audio works made during an artist residency at IEM Graz this summer, and I will explain aspects of the technical background. The project is centered around algorithmic spatialization created from projecting higher dimensional geometric and algebraic structures onto 3D. Resonance, both as an idea of space and of instrument, becomes a key factor. The evening will be partly a lecture and a bit a concert. The audio works will be spread out towards the beginning,  and I will put the most technical elements towards the end, such as my functions for HOA encoding. So be very welcome to come just for the first part, if you are not technically inclined. Some keywords mixed from composition and audio DSP are: Spectral composition, algorithmic composition, waveguide meshes, Feedback Delay Networks. The working process mostly involves producing graphics and animations to test my mathematical functions, before applying these algorithms to audio and composition. I will show some of this as well.
