Bolette Roed

Bolette Roed graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2004 with an advanced postgraduate degree. She was taught by Dan Laurin and Pierre Hamon, and the following year she was appointed DR Artist 2005. Bolette Roed is also a medical doctor from the University of Copenhagen.

With an exciting approach to the recorder as an instrument that can also be used in many innovative contexts Bolette constantly extents the recorder repertoire and works with different combinations of instruments and repertoire opportunities. This has resulted in numerous orders and premieres of works by both Danish and foreign composers.

Bolette has been a soloist with Concerto Copenhagen, Arte dei Suonatori, Danish National Chamber Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Chapel.

Bolette can also be experienced in the unique ensemble constellations: Alpha (recorder, saxophone, percussion), Gáman (recorder, violin, accordion), Lune Rousse (recorder, violin, viola, vocals, percussion) and Concert Pastoral ( Galoubet & tambourine, recorder and various baroque instruments).

Alpha was double prize winner at DR's chamber music competition in 2006 and finalists in the prestigious Concert Artist Guild competition 2008 in New York and also finalists in Terem Crossover competition, Skt. Petersburg 2010.

Alpha was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize 2009. Alpha's two CDs have both been nominated for Danish Radio's P2-prisen/DMA classic for best chamber music recording. The CD "Alpha World" - consisting of the ensemble's own arrangements of music from around the world, was named one of the year's five best CDs in 2010. BOLETTE is also involved in a number of CDs (Dacapo, BIS, cpo, etc.).

Bolette teaches at the Royal Danish Academy of Music since 2009, and she has been head of early music group from 2012.

Bolette has received a number of awards, among others, she won gold in the Berlingske Tidende classical music competition and she is the recipient of the Jacob Gade Award. Bolette was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize 2011.
