BACKGROUND

Nils Ekner is a self-taught freelance producer, technician, musician and teacher since 1988. He has had his own recording studio, and for 15 years he worked for the Danish Radio as DR's producer of World Music (non-western music) - live and studio. He has production experience with all types of rhythmic music.

TEACHING

Nils has, among other things, taught at the Tonmeister programme in the production of music with non-western main elements (Arabic, Asian, Afro, Latin etc.) since 1998.

ARTISTIC PRACTICE

In studio/album recordings, Nils has produced Oriental Mood, Cordero, Tchando, Salsa Na' Ma', Moses O'Jah, Son en Taya, Chochek Brothers, John Sund, Hanne Rømer, Tatunane, Jose Carlos, One Song, Baobab Sisters, Mbongeni Ngema, Tangoorkesteret.

And in live recordings, names like Los Van Van, Klimax, Sexteto Mayor, Papa Wemba, Ali Hassan Kuban, Cheb Mami, Bayete, Eddie Palmieri, The Skatalites, Natasha Atlas, Super Cayor De Dakar, Hypnotix, Cesaria Evora, Orquesta Aragon, Yulduz Usmanova, Busi Mhlongo, Noise Khanyile, Transglobal Underground, Baul Bishwa (Bengal), Zap Mama, Los De Abajo, Manolito, Africando, Issac Delgado, Rokia Traore, Tinariwen, Chico Cesar, Milton Nasciemento, Lucky Dube, Los De Abajo, N. ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT

Nils has been responsible for development projects as a producer and innovation consultant, including:
- Development and production of albums in collaboration with top South African artists, since 2012
- Production of music with resident musicians from non-Western countries, including refugees and immigrants
- Development of production environment within 'World Music' in Danish Radio
- Development of live production of 'World Music' 1997-2003 Roskilde Ballroom
- Contemporary Roots Recording Programme in South Africa, 1999
- Chairman of World Musik Denmark, 1996-2000
