Torbjörn Kroon trained as a trombonist at the Academy of Music and Drama of the University of Gothenburg under Gösta Eklund and Ingemar Roos, with further studies under Denis Wick, Ralf Sauer, Bradimir Slokar and Jay Friedman.

Teaching

Torbjörn has taught at RDAM since 1989.

Artistic practice

Torbjörn joined the Royal Danish Orchestra as principal trombonist in 1981. He has also played several concerts as a member of the Royal Danish Brass, Collegium Musicum and the Alingsås Big Band.

Torbjörn has on several occasions acted as rehearsal director and rehearsal conductor for the Malmö Symphony Orchestra Brass, the Royal Swedish Navy Band in Karlskrona, the Royal Life Guards Low Brass and the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra, and he has conducted the NorrlandsOperan Brass in several concerts.

Development of new methods for learning and teaching - Private publication of Basic Routines’ Säfflebussen basics and new fundamental practice plan for brass players.

Torbjörn has taken part in several tours with the Royal Danish Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

Jury member for the Royal Danish Orchestra and moderator in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo.

CD and LP releases

As an orchestral musician, Torbjörn has contributed to various CD releases with the Royal Danish Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Collegium Musicum, the Royal Danish Brass and the Royal Danish Orchestra’s Brass Quintet.
