MandagsMusik - Heine

Many different composers throughout time have been inspired by the german poet Heinrich Heine. Whereas we often view him as a romantic poet, due to how Schumann, Mendelssohn and Brahms immortalized his music, in fact Heine was a rebel.

He fought against political and social discrimination and for the upheaval of contemporary race, gender and class paradigms. His works were banned in Germany in 1835, and H.C. Andersen, who visited him in Paris where he lived for the last 25 years of his life, did not think that women should be allowed to read Heine's erotic poems.

Nonetheless many women composers have used Heine's texts, and this concert will include songs by Josephine Lang, Nadia Boulanger, Margarete Schweikert, Fanny Hensel, Alma Mahler and Tekla Griebel-Wandall. Further, works by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Charles Ives og P.E.Lange-Müller samt Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms will be performed, everything entrusted to the voice and piano students of RDAM

MandagsMusik is chamber music of a high artistic standard with a focus on communication. The format is a 90 minute concert, followed by a gathering in the bar where the audience and musicians can meet in an informal setting.
