For the first time in Denmark it is possible to experience our time's vildest and most original music pieces: TRIO by Simon Steen-Andersen - composed for three big ensembles: a choir, a bigband, and a symphony orchestra. You will also experience three new orchestra works by young composers: Marcela Lucatelli, Evagoras Solias Apokidis, and Adrianna Kubica-Cypek.

The composer Simon Steen-Andersen has moved from Denmark to Berlin and is today considered one of the leading composers of our time world wide. His specialty is combining accustic music with electronic music, video, and performance in a new and surprising way.

After a row of spectacular works the 44-year old Simon Steen-Andersen has outdone himself with his masterpiece TRIO. It premiered in Germany 2019 and immediately became a sensation. TRIO is a complete fusion of accustic music and multi media. Movie clips by conductors and musicians are virtuosically composed into the music that the three groups - a choir, a bigband, and a symphony orchestra - play and sing on stage.

TRIO is composed on an initiative by DR in cooperation with the German radio SWR, that governs the three types of ensembles that make the Simon Steen-Andersen giant trio. It is a monumental and captivating work - overwhelming, fantastic, and also very comedic. TRIO is a landmark in Danish music.

The concert is part of RDAM's PULSAR Festival, and before the intermission the DR Symphony Orchestra will play three new works by young composers, respectively current and former students at RDAM: Marcela Lucatelli, Evagoras Solias Apokidis, and Adrianna Kubica-Cypek.

Marcela Lucatelli (b. 1988) is 33 years old and born in Brasil, but with a base in Denmark. She has reached internation recognition for her original, sensual, and political performance works. Her pieces will be performed by vocal groups such as DR Vokalensemble (DK) and Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart (DE) and other limit-seeking ensembles and music collectives such as Apartment House (UK), Bastard Assignments (UK) and Mocrep (USA). Her works have been performed at acknowledged festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, A L’ARME! Festival, Nordic Music Days, SPOR Festival, KLANG – Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and many others. Lucatelli has been awarded the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Fond's Talent Prize in Composition 2019 and Pelle Prisen 2021 for being a composer that dares to go against the norms.

Adrianna Kubica-Cypek is a 25-year old polish composer, theorist, and performer, living in Copenhagen. She has a Bachelor's degree in modern classic composition and music theory from Karol Szymanowski Music Academy i Katowice (PL), and has studied composition and orchestration at the conservatorie in Lyon (FR). She finised her Master's degree in composition in RDAM in Copenhagen. Kubica-Cypeks compositions have been performed by New Music Orchestra (PL), Opole Philharmony Orchestra (PL), both symphony- and string orchestra from CNSMD in Lyon (FR), DR Vokalensemblet (DK) and The Hungarian Radio Orchestra (HU).

Evagoras Solias Apokidis is a Greek composer with a Bachelor's degree in electroaccustic composition from Nicosia Universitet on Cypern. He now lives in Copenhagen and is studying his Master's degree in composition at RDAM. His works have been performed by the Arctic Philharmonic Sinfonietta (NO), DR Vokalensemblet (DK), KLART (DK), DKDM Sinfonietta (DK) and Ligeti Quartet (UK).
