Background

Peter Barnow is a graduate of the Tonemeister programme at RDAM and has a Master in Studio Composition at Goldsmiths College in London. He works as a freelance producer and sound engineer, running his own recording studio in Copenhagen, and has many years of professional experience in live sound, theatre, sound installation etc.

Teaching

Peter teaches Music Production, 3D audio and Spectral Hearing at the Tonmeister programme. He also frequently teaches at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.

Research

In 2020-22, Peter initiated and conducted the KUV project 3D Audio Explored in collaboration with DKDM and Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjærg. Since then, he has worked in depth with 3D audio, mixing in the Dolby Atmos format as well as designing sound for installations and performances. Further research is planned for 2023-24.

Artistic Practice

Peter has many years of experience with music production, engineering and mixing and works within a wide range of genres.

In 2021, he won a nomination for the Producer of the Year Steppeulv award (music critics annual awards) and his work has gathered nominations as well as wins for the Nordic Music Council Prize and Danish Radio P2 awards.
