Cellist Hans Jørgen Jensen is a professor at the Northwestern University School of Music in Evanston, Chicago, the Glenn Gould Institute in Toronto, and the Mercer University School of Music in Macon, Georgia. Audiences now have the opportunity to experience this truly exceptional figure in the world of music education, who is teaching in Denmark for the first time since 2010.

Career
Since Hans Jørgen Jensen’s first appointment as a professor at the University of Houston from 1979 to 1987, he has risen to become perhaps the most prominent American cello professor; he is currently a professor at Northwestern University in Chicago, the Northwestern University School of Music in Chicago, the Glenn Gould Institute in Toronto, and the Mercer University School of Music in Georgia. 

His students have held positions in many American orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, The Cleveland Orchestra and many others, and his acclaimed teaching approach is carried on by a long line of former students who now teach at American and international conservatoires and universities. 

In the 1970s, he took over the cello post at the Meadowmount School of Music from the legendary cellist Leonard Rose, and every summer since then he has taught hundreds of world-class cellists, including prominent Danish musicians and, most recently, a number of very young Danish students.
