Andreas Brantelid appointed new Professor of Cello

Andreas Brantelid has been employed as an Associate Professor at The Royal Danish Academy of Music since 2022. In addition, he has been a Visiting Professor at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki since 2022, an Associate Professor at the Malmö Academy of Music since 2018 and an Honorary Professor at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus since 2014. 

He has had an extensive international career, performing as a soloist with leading symphony orchestras around the world and working with prominent conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Heinrich Schiff.

For many years, Andreas has formed a duo with pianists Bengt Forsberg and Christian lhle Hadland, with whom he has been artistic director of the Stavanger Chamber Music Festival since 2018. 

Throughout his career, Andreas has recorded many CDs. His debut recording in 2008 was with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and featured cello concertos by Tchaikovsky, Schumann and Saint-Saëns. He has since recorded both of Haydn's cello concertos with Lars Ulrik Mortensen and Concerto Copenhagen, among others.
