RDAM Student wins first prize in the Rued Langgaard Competition 2025

Pianist Denisa Irina Pirvulescu won first prize in the Rued Langgaard Competition for music academy students, held on 3–4 May.

Denisa Irina Pirvulescu, a Master's student at RDAM studying under Professor Marianna Shirinyan, entered the competition as a solo pianist. With the prize, she receives DKK 25,000 and a concert performance at the Rued Langgaard Festival 2025.

"I am incredibly honoured to have won the Rued Langgaard Competition, especially as the first solo pianist. Playing Langgaard’s music allowed me to express something raw, honest, and deeply personal, performing with my whole heart, body, and mind. His music has taken me on a truly inspiring journey - it is profoundly expressive and deserves much more recognition. I am grateful for the opportunity to share his genius music with a wider audience," says Denisa Irina Pirvulescu.

The Rued Langgaard Competition is an annual event for music academy students. Its aim is to give young musicians an in-depth encounter with Langgaard’s music that they can carry with them in their artistic development.

"The Rued Langgaard Competition is an incredibly exciting space to follow these young musicians. They throw themselves into Langgaard’s music with a strong desire to make it their own, adding new nuances and personality. It’s wonderful to hear their courage expressed on such a high musical level," says the competition’s director, Signe Asmussen.
