Royal Visit to Concert with RDAM’s Symphony Orchestra
Yesterday, we were honored by the visit of our patron, the Queen, who attended a concert with RDAM’s Symphony Orchestra, RDAM soloists, and conducting students.
Prior to the concert, the Queen was given a tour of the Academy by Board Chair Kim Bohr, Vice President Torben Puggaard, and Head of Administration Carsten Ruby – with President Helene Gjerris as the guide. They visited selected concert halls, studios, rehearsal facilities, focusing on the students’ education and the architecture. The tour concluded in the Royal Box, where the Queen took her seat, and Helene Gjerris welcomed the audience before the concert began.
The programme featured Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1, with cello soloists Olga Chwaszczewska, Oscar Friis-Hansen, and Arthur Daems, as well as conducting students Leon Reimer, Ondrej Soukup, Chen-Hao Chiang, and Korbinian Krol. The concert was an orchestra school concert, which we hold five times a year as part of the students’ education.
We are deeply honored by the visit and grateful for the great interest Her Majesty showed in both our institution and the concert.
