Flute Chain: A National Initiative for the Development of the Flute Community in Denmark
Flute Chain is a national development initiative in collaboration with the Danish Flute Festival. The project is based on a number of current challenges within the Danish flute community and aims to examine and strengthen the structures that support professional and pedagogical development.
The project focuses particular attention on three key areas considered essential for the development of the flute community: the sustainability of talent environments, pedagogical competence development, and the need for strengthened professional networks.
Through three concrete phases, Flute Chain explores and reinforces the structures necessary to develop a sustainable environment for the flute community in Denmark.
Phase 1: Research and Knowledge Exchange
Interviews with students and teachers at music schools and higher education institutions map existing challenges and potentials within the Danish flute community. Additionally, experiences from Nordic music communities are included through networking evenings where flutists can meet to share knowledge and develop solutions. The results are compiled into a podcast series that documents the process and makes knowledge accessible to the entire community.
Phase 2: Networking and Mentorship Program
A new mentorship program, Flute Chain, connects talented students, conservatory students, and professional flutists to build strong professional relationships across levels. At the same time, network meetings for educators are established with a focus on strengthening pedagogical collaboration and developing strategies to attract and retain young flutists.
Phase 3: Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
Experiences and results from the project are collected and presented through podcasts and a digital platform, which will become a central resource for knowledge sharing and networking within the flute community.
Objective
Flute Chain creates a foundation for talent development and professional collaboration in Denmark. Through concrete initiatives such as mentorship programs and networking meetings, the project works strategically to develop a coherent and well-functioning flute environment that can enhance both artistic and pedagogical practices.
