The violinist Peter Herresthal appointed Professor at RDAM

Peter Herresthal has been a soloist with orchestras around the world, including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thomas Adès, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the BBC Philharmonic, the London Sinfonietta and many Scandinavian orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Peter Herresthal has recorded 19 violin concertos, which have received five Norwegian Grammys and ten nominations. His Nørgård recording was nominated for a Gramophone Award and was Editor’s Choice in the magazines ‘The Strad’ and ‘International Record Review’. For the past three seasons he has toured Europe and the US with Kaija Saariaho’s “Vers toi qui es si loin”, which was written for him, as well as giving more than 20 performances of her violin concerto “Graal Theatre”, which was recorded at BIS and received a US Grammy nomination.
Peter Herresthal can be seen performing as soloist in Saariaho’s violin concerto “Graal Theatre” at the joint concert of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra and RDAM in February 2022.
Peter Herresthal is a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music and visiting professor at the Royal College of Music in London and the NYU Steinhardt School in New York. He has recently given masterclasses at the Manhattan School of Music, the Chicago Institute and the USC Thornton School of Music in LA, and was a visiting professor at the Oberlin Conservatory in the spring of 2018. From 2002-08 he was a professor at the Edsberg Mano and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and in 2018 he was elected foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy.
